Tiki Tuesday: LONO Hollywood
/Our Easter weekend not only consisted of candy and easter eggs, but tropical drinks as well. While we were in Los Angeles visiting family, we made a quick stop to LONO in the heart of the Hollywood strip. Can we just say, their interiors are STUNNING. They brought in a lot of texture and pattern in a sophisticated way that we really appreciated. The indoor outdoor space filled with palms really transports you. They describe it as their urban oasis, away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Boulevard. Very true. We’ll let the pictures speak for them selves.
The menu offered a lot of tasty bar bites, from Kauai Fried Chicken, to Charred Pineapple-Mango Salad. We were pretty full from Easter brunch to get more than the Tiki Tots, which came with a side of Ao nori, banana ketchup. They also gave us complimentary seasoned popcorn!
Time for drinks! We ordered the Grass Skirt, made of Blanco Tequila, lime, coconut, pineapple, and yellow chartreuse. Followed by the King Kamehameha, a mix of rums, Aperol, fresh lime, Cara Cara orange, pineapple, passion fruit & honey. Both blended, fruity, and subtly sweet. A refreshing preflight cocktail.
If we had a little more time we would have also tried their version of Missionary’s Downfall. Made with LONO light rum blend, Creme de Peche, pineapple, honey, and mint. And of course their signature cocktail, Curse of Lono. A secret recipe that is served in a fiery chalice. We’re getting that next time!
If you’re spending time on the Hollywood strip or even in the Los Angeles area, be sure to keep an eye out for this one! You’d never think you’d find a tiki oasis quite like this. Just look for the wall with the palm tree dropping coconuts and you’ll be on your way to your own Tiki adventure.
Last weekend we made yet another trip to Disneyland! But before we entered the park, we decided to order brunch from a little tropical bar and grill, right smack in the heart of Disneyland Resort.
