Tiki Tings: Mini Bungalow Tour

The long awaited Mini Bungalow Tour is here! We’ve been saying we were going to post a full tour for so long now, but while we were in quarantine we had the opportunity to do a lot of reorganization and redecorating.

There are still a couple more areas we’d like to focus on, but for now we’re happy with where it’s at. We’ll do our best to link as many of the items as we can incase any of you are inspired by the Mini Bungalow and want to make some updates to your own!

We’ve been in this space for over 2 years now and for the most part we moved in with a lot of these pieces already. As we learned how we lived in the space we made some adaptations. In the main living space, we are always growing our gallery wall over our couch with photos and artwork that inspire us! Since the rug and throw pillows were so colorful, we wanted to keep the wall a more neutral/monochromatic color scheme.

Also, how awesome is this coffee table? Perfect to display all our “coffee table” books on design and architecture. It paired nicely with these retro tripod nesting tables we already had from West Elm.

As we revealed to you a few weeks back , we really spent quite some time thinking about how to make this corner area cozy and functional. Our friend Dabito helped us take another look at the space and suggested we used this 96” CB2 shelf to provide ourselves with some storage and display some of our #TikiTings and our cocktail bar! A lot of you really loved our Luna chair from West Elm, but unfortunately they discontinued this piece. It makes us wish we had bought two for when we eventually get a bigger space! Just behind it we went for a more colorful floor to ceiling gallery wall that was more tropical/tiki themed to tie in the bar and decor.

Just across the way you probably recognize these masks that we got last year from Umasqu! (Featured on our Instagram.) They’re surrounded by a variety of real and faux plants, which really brings that whole area to life! We also have another seating area with another discontinued 😭West Elm chair. And of course it’s the perfect place to showcase our custom Tiki Collective pillow made by the team over at Budsies.

Jumping on over to the dining and kitchen area, we turned it into a work-from-home “desk space” that we cleaned up just for this shoot! We wanted to keep it simple with the black and white pallet on this end starting with the checkered rug and giant print from The Printable Studio. As you can see our monstera takes over most of this space along with some of our other plant and plant propagations. This summer was really really hot, so we recently added these bold yellow blackout curtains from Society6 to help keep out the afternoon sun.

This area originally had horrible lighting ( you’ll see in the kitchen), so we decided to put our electrician hats on and install this IKEA pendant light you all know and love! It’s made from bamboo and gives off a warm glow in the evening that’s really cozy!

Finally we’ve reached the bedroom. It’s definitely a work in progress. Again, we have some amazing bamboo pendants from IKEA (no longer available) that frame the bed. Right in the center we have some artwork we made inspired by the paneling on the exterior of The Saguaro hotel in Palm Springs. You’ll notice these were in the kitchen as well!

The latest addition is this Urban Outfitters bed frame. It matches perfectly with the nightstands and the media console! But the real attention grabber here is The Jungalow Hypnotic quilt and sham set from Target styled with their iconic Ayo throw pillow.

As some of you may have noticed, there are a few Funko POPS! collectibles displayed in our bedroom. A recent hobby of ours that we’ve gotten into during these weird times. Just a little something more personal and quirky to add to our bedroom.

We are really glad we got a chance to share this with you all! It’s not entirely tiki, but it’s such a fun mix of styles and things we love. I’m sure we’ll change things up from time to time as we get inspired, so be sure to follow along on Instagram for all the behind the scenes peeks!
