Aloha Friday: Fashions from the Philippines
/Back in December, Kane went to the Philippines to visit family for the holidays and came back with some rad shirts to add to our wardrobe. Manila (the capital of the Philippines) has over a dozen malls bringing in locals and tourist alike. Off the beaten path in the city of San Juan in Metro Manila is a shopping center called Greenhills. If you’re from the Philippines, you know of Greenhills because it’s one of the many malls where you can get really good deals and rare finds. You can find designer brands, “less-than-real” handbags, accessories, being sold by hundreds of vendors in a flea market style setting. Since designer handbags aren’t really our style, Kane was looking for souvenirs and Filipino snacks to bring back to the States when he stumbled on some shirts he had to have.
While Aloha shirts typically range from $25 and above, he was able to snag these for about $5 each! We love them because they’re really light and breathable, perfect for the warm California weather. Also, the patterns are just fun! He got two with palm leaves, two with stripes, and one with a cool “Tiki-ish” pattern. A perfect addition to our Aloha shirt collection.
So what took so long to show these off? We blame the weather. After two months of rain, cold weather, and not much sunshine, we’ve been looking forward to seeing the temperature finally rise above 60. It’s been a long time since the weather has been warm enough to sport our Aloha fashions, so we’ll probably be wearing these all weekend long.
And you bet we’ll be taking advantage of all the sunshine! We plan on spending time outside (and inside) creating a lot of new content to share on the blog and all of our social channels. Lot of #TikiTings, recipes, and the long awaited home tour in the pipeline that we can’t wait to shoot. Make sure you keep an eye out for more #AlohaFridays to come.
If you haven’t already followed along on your preferred social platform go do that asap so you don’t miss out!
This post has been a long time coming! We worked with Ashley from Volcano Designs to create custom cabana sets!
