1940's Hurricane
For this Tiki Tuesday we’re making a drink that you don’t see on the menu too often. The Hurricane is a sweet cocktail that is one of many popular drinks served in New Orleans, where it originated in the 1940’s. The creator of this drink is New Orleans Tavern owner, Pat O'Brien and now we’re passing this recipe on to you.
Here’s what you’ll need:
White rum
Dark rum (we tried out Plantation Barbados Rum )
Lime juice
Orange juice
Passion fruit juice
Simple Syrup
Grenadine
The cocktail
2 ounces white rum
2 ounces dark rum
1 ounce lime juice
1 ounce orange juice
2 ounces passion fruit juice
Add all ingredients with ice in to a shaker and shake, shake, shake. Strain into a glass with fresh ice.
Garnish with a cherries, an orange slice, and enjoy this sweet and refreshing passion fruity drink!
